An impressive catch

Over the years I've enjoyed the things Cisco has come up with. Today was a good example. He caught a squirrel after it bailed from a tree. The only way to do this is with luck, timing, and skill. The laws of mechanics indicate that it is impossible for a hawk to catch a bailing squirrel if it is below the hawk and the hawk and squirrel head down at the same moment. The squirrel is a dense package, and both the squirrel and hawk are headed down with the acceleration of gravity. If there's any distance between them the hawk cannot close it.*

The only way to catch a bailing squirrel is to intercept the squirrel with speed. That's what Cisco did today. The squirrel leaped from the tree but Cisco was already diving at the squirrel. He just lowered his trajectory and took the squirrel out of the air.....

Arnold the dog performed brilliantly. He had his feet on the tree and was barking (up the right tree)....

*From elementary mechanics: If the hawk and squirrel were to leave from the same point, but the squirrel jumps a half second ahead, that is a four foot head start. The equation is 1/2*g*(t*t) where g is 32.2 ft/(sec*sec) and the time is half a second. The result is four feet. 1/2*32.2*.5*.5 = 4 ft.
